Enchanted

I am travelling alone for the first time!

Ahhh! I'm super excited And I'm super scared all at once. I've been sheltered for way too long haha...Call me lame, but I've never really travelled anywhere in the world. I am probably missing out on a lot of adventures/growing up experience of travelling. I'm hoping it will be fun!

My destination: The Motherland!

Too bad I'm going to miss Kate and William's wedding.

In the meantime, I've got to calm my my nerves, I have a couple of weeks left before vacay and I have a ton of work left to do before I can galavant around the UK and Paris, even for a couple of days only? The idea of being in Paris reminds me of the recent piece by Cynthia Smith for Vogue (An American in Paris). I think I Swooned while I was reading it. It was too magical for me.

Oscar's LDP (Lovely Dressed People)

Of course! Everybody has their own take on the Oscars best dressed list. Here's my post for a little adoration to the glitz and glamour of movie celebs and all things Hollywood. All my images are from Style.com. On my best dressed list are:
The lovely Cate Blanchett in Givenchy (She's probably one of the few people who can pull this kind of dress. The dress demands your attention but is still toned down for the occasion because of its pastel hue.)
Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein (The classic all American sportswear glamour blonde babe, she kinda looks like a very sophisticated Barbie, doesn't she?)
Hailey Steinfeld in one of a kind Marchesa (She looked so adorable! Like a princess!)

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab (I think everyone agrees that Mila Kunis hit this one off the ball park, this dress is so feminine and sensual as well. I kinda wish that her hair was a little bit different)

Michelle Williams in Chanel. Need I say more? So chic!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein. Who knew Calvin Klein could do two distinct, fabulous dresses?! I almost want to touch this dress in person, it feels so metallic.

Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang. This is my favorite red dress on the red carpet, simple elegance.

Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood. I wish I looked as fabulous as Helen Mirren when I'm at her age. She looked so lovely! Her grey hair suits her so graciously

Marissa Tomei in Charles James 1960 Couture...so fun! It reminds me a little bit of the Viktor and Rolf SS10 collection

Rhea Durham in Naeem Khan. I love the embelishment on the upper section of the dress
I absolutely love the "Oscar time" of the year when I can see so much fabulous-ness on TV. I kinda wish I was part of the Fashion Police: I can talk for hours about the dresses from these award ceremonies haha. Till the next movie awards season!
PS. I have this burning question: Who is Oscar and HOW did he end up with an Award ceremony?

Let's play grown-ups

J'adore la mode!  from its eccentricities, to its minimalistic tendencies; I love everything about it.
But one of the lovely fashion trend that speaks the most these days is the ultimate utilitarian, promoting the working ladies and lads of our time. It begs for for the classic and timeless, well- tailored, no fuss, adult-ish ensemble! I definitely go weak in the knees for a well-tailored suit paired up with an impeccable shoes and topped off with charm and wit in the workplace. I mean you can almost always guarantee that a man would look good in a suit and a woman oozing with sex appeal and confidence would dress up, also in a suit. I think the trend might have been as a result of the recession and probably alludes to the American workers tightening their belt and getting down to B-u-s-i-n-e-s-s.

I'd love to dress up like an adult more often. At 5ft tall, I am mistaken as a teenager, sometime even a 12 yr old. Makes me need to work twice as hard as 'erbody else. I always love to find excuses to play dress up and would do it more often If I can. I just wish I had more required dress up events to attend to, maybe that will encourage me to dress up more...

Pardon the total and complete absence of photo in my part as I have no camera. Yes, I've been living in a cave for as long as I can remember. But definitely will plan to buy a camera soon.

Yet the two piece suit don't come complete without the famous classic handbag: the Hermes Birkin...Omg, dying to have one. And you know who else really loves The Birkin?! Victoria Beckham! Who may I add, also carries the chicest handbags. Can you say POSH?

Lovely to meet you!

Je m'appelle Luz and  I'm starting a blog! (Hopefully this time i'll be able to stick to it for real) Along with my great motivator, Anna! Though her name is easily pronounced, mine on the other hand, can be a bit tricky, Luz (Looz); not laz, or lauz, or lutz (Note: these were the names I've been called from the past haha). It's actually a very common Spanish name, though I'm not Spanish. I only know that 'Luz' means light in the English language. I would love to travel to Spanish speaking countries and examine how they use the word itself. I mean, is there a reason for me to feel special about my name? oh gawd, chuckles...

But enough about me ranting about my name. Anna, hurry up and name your blog!!!
